LearnLink will provide a new hosting environment for school and preschool websites.

The new hosting environment will provide additional space for web sites that contain static content only. The new environment has the capacity to expand in the future to host web sites that are database driven or contain dynamic content.

Will my school/preschool website be affected by the transition?

If you currently host your school/preschool website in the EdSuite environment then your website will be automatically transitioned to the new LearnLink website hosting environment.

How do I know if my website is hosted in the EdSuite environment?

If you currently publish your website via ‘ftp.decs.sa.edu.au' and use an account called ‘web master.<schoolname>' then your website is currently hosted in the EdSuite environment.

The person/s who make changes to your website, referred to as Webmasters.

What will change?

DL.<Site Number>_WebMasters@schools.sa.edu.au

This distribution list will be used to notify a school/preschool when their web site is going to exceed the disk space allocated to the web site.

Once school/preschool leaders confirm the Webmaster/s for their site, the membership of the distribution list will be populated automatically with the name of your webmaster at the time of transition,. Thereafter school/preschool leaders can control which staff are members of this distribution list.

How do I inform the project team of the contact details for WebMaster?

Email the name and contact details of your WebMaster/s to the project team at decd.learnlink@sa.gov.au.

The project team will then contact this person/s (with a copy to you) at the appropriate time to provide new FTP account information and other details required to transition to the new hosting environment.

How much disk space will be allocated to my web site in the new environment?

0-200 students:  200MB
201-600 students: 500MB
600 students:  1GB

Additional disk space may be able to be made available on request to the Customer Support Centre.

Are there any restrictions?

The new LearnLink environment on implementation will only host websites with static content.  The new environment has the capacity to expand in the future to host web sites that are database driven or contain dynamic content.

How can I host my school/preschool website in the new LearnLink environment?

If you currently host your school/preschool website in the EdSuite environment then your website will be automatically transitioned to the new LearnLink website hosting environment.   If you host your website within your school/preschool, or with a private provider, and your website contains only static content then you can email the LearnLink project team at decd.learnlink@sa.gov.au to plan the transition.

When will my school/preschool website transition to the new LearnLink environment?

All websites will be transitioned to the new environment prior to day 1 of the rollout, which is currently scheduled to commence from week 4 of Term 3 i.e. 06/08/12.   

From this date WebMasters will need to undertake some activities to access their website so it can be maintained in the new environment.  There will be no impact to staff, students or members of the public who will continue to access school and preschool websites as they always have.

What does my school/preschool need to do to transition to the new Learnlink environment?

WebMasters will be provided with a transition checklist which will identify the tasks that they will need to follow so they can update/maintain their websites in the new environment.  

This checklist can be accessed below, noting that these activities can only be performed from day 1 of the rollout of LearnLink which is currently scheduled for 06/08/12.
