Felixstow Community School CMP

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

A formal capacity management plan has been introduced at Felixstow Community School to help manage enrolment numbers.

The plan will assist the school to manage applications for enrolment by establishing clear enrolment criteria for families, with reception applications due by the end of week 5, term 3 for students starting in 2018.

If more than 15 applications for enrolment are received by the above date, places will be offered based on consideration of the following factors:

  • the child has siblings currently enrolled in the school
  • the distance of the child’s residence from the school
  • if the child currently attends an associated program at the school – e.g. playgroup
  • any other personal needs, such as transportation, curriculum and social/family links.

The school will notify parents of the outcome of this process by the end of week 6, term 3. Unsuccessful applicants will be placed on an enrolment register and encouraged to approach their local school.

Background

Officially opened in 2012, Felixstow Community School has increased in popularity as an alternative schooling option for families.

Full details of the plans are set out in the Government Gazette (PDF 2.1MB).

Quotes attributable to Executive Director Partnerships, Schools and Preschools, Anne Millard

Felixstow Community School is one our smaller sites and many families have shown great interest in their learning philosophies since it officially opened its doors in December 2012.

This will enable the school and community to continue to operate in safety and comfort in the years ahead.
