Unley High School will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the successful Link special education program, fostering the integration of special needs students into mainstream schooling.
The unique Link program is run by the Adelaide West Special Education Centre and provides support for students with physical disabilities as they progress through main stream schooling at three sites – Mitcham Primary School, Roma Mitchell Secondary School and Unley High School.
Children participate in all aspects of life at their host schools including excursions and camps which also assists the promotion of inclusion, acceptance and understanding for students with physical disabilities.
The Link program has been run from Adelaide West Special Education Centre at Taperoo for the past six years after previously operating out of Regency Park Special School.
To mark the 20 year anniversary of the program at Unley High School, the school will hold a celebration assembly on Monday, 12 September at 11.15am.
