$114m school bus safety investment

3 April 2017

Safety standards on all DECD school buses have been increased thanks to a $114.5m state government investment.

The investment has seen all 455 bus services on school routes now being operated in vehicles fitted with seat belts and air conditioning.

Of this, $23.8m was allocated to acquire new buses with seat belts and air conditioning and $90.7m went towards supporting private bus operator contracts to ensure all new contracts provided buses with seat belts and air conditioning.

This investment has been made to ensure safe modern vehicles transport for regional children to and from school each day.
