Fresh fruit and vegetables will be delivered free of charge to 10 metropolitan and regional primary schools across the state as part of a new Right Bite pilot program.
The new program, announced as part of the 2017-18 state budget, is expected to start in term 4 this year and will support sites in educating children about healthy eating.
All the fresh fruit and vegetables will be sourced from local suppliers.
Education and Child Development Minister Susan Close said the Right Bite program is about ensuring children are eating enough of the right foods so they can learn with switched-on brains.
The 10 schools taking part in the pilot will be announced next month.
