The government today handed down its response to the recommendations contained in the Child Protection Systems Royal Commission’s report.
A Fresh Start, the government’s response is based on the principle that children and young people have a fundamental right to grow up happy and cared for, to be kept safe from harm and to be supported to fulfil their potential.
This response has a heightened focus on early intervention and prevention. Given vulnerability is often first identified at school, in early childhood centres and through allied services we at the Department for Education and Child Development have an enormous role to play.
