Suicide prevention

5 September 2017

The loss of life through suicide is a tragedy that affects all South Australians.

If you are concerned that a friend or loved one is at risk of suicide please contact one of these services:

If you are concerned about the mental wellbeing of your child we recommend that you raise concerns with them in the first instance, talk with a teacher or wellbeing leader at their school and if necessary seek health care advice.

Schools have a close relationship with services such as the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), youth beyondblue and headspace and will help you to find the support your child needs.

The Department for Education and Child Development is committed to providing safe and inclusive learning environments for all students.

To achieve this we have a range of supports in place to promote general wellbeing.

We also work directly with students who may be experiencing specific difficulties.

This can include providing access to psychologists, social workers and specialist behaviour support staff.
