It’s show time – education and fun at the Royal Show

Our staff will be at the Royal Adelaide Show again this year, helping to showcase some of the best programs in our schools. You can find us in the DECD Learning Centre.

Some highlights include a brand new science centre with live science busking, hands-on experiments and interactive exhibits. The usual favourites will be there, including the baby animal feeding and cow-milking displays.

The Little Big Book Club will be performing ‘It’s Rhyme Time’ show every day. It’s a great chance to watch favourite nursery rhymes performed live.

Nature Play SA will be another feature – helping to get families and children in touch with nature. You’ll find natural resources for children to build things, including seedpods, wooden blocks, sticks and bark.

Our activity area will have colouring-in activity sheets about nature, farmyard animals and counting, with textas, pencils and crayons. There’ll also be a reading corner set up for children and families.

You can read more about what’s on and where.

Our partnerships

This year’s focus will be on reading, counting, numeracy and literacy, as well as families learning and playing together. Our partnerships include:

Our thanks to Ann Hallett, HiChick Breeding Company, Urrbrae Agricultural High School, Greg Edmonds, and Misty Brae Holdings for providing this year’s animals.

The DECD Learning Centre is an initiative developed and resourced by the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) together with the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society (RA&HS).

For the last 32 years, the Learning Centre has been an opportunity to promote South Australian public schools and agricultural education to families that visit the show.
