A joint project with the University of SA is exploring how to incorporate OSHC practicums as part of education degrees.
An opportunity exists for university students studying in the field of education to supplement their placements with an additional experience in an OSHC and/or vacation care setting. This allows students to see OSHC as another element of education and care component of school.
The integrated nature of OSHC services on sites can support universities with alternatives or extension to student placements.
To get your site involved or find out more, contact the OSHC unit on 8226 6427 or email DECD.OSHC [at] sa.gov.au.
The school principal, as the minister’s representative, must actively manage the performance of the third-party provider and their compliance with the licence and services agreement at the site level by using a contract management plan (CMP) template (Word 289KB).
Once the contract management plan is completed and endorsed by the principal and school governing council chairperson it is to be submitted to Early Childhood Services by emailing DECD.OSHC [at] sa.gov.au prior to service commencement for approval by the director early childhood services.
To ensure principals have the skills and knowledge to effectively manage a contract, there is a requirement they will participate in an information session. This information session will outline the competencies required to fulfil the contact management obligations on behalf of the minister.
