2017 National Volunteer Week celebrations

A chance to say thanks to our volunteers

During National Volunteer Week, our department said thank you to our amazing volunteers by having some activities in the DECD gallery to showcase the role volunteers play in our schools, preschools and children’s centres.

There were a range of activities, including:

  • photo exhibition of volunteers ‘on the job’
  • volunteer organisation display stands
  • sausage sizzle
  • meet our Living Book volunteers.

It was a great chance to see how our volunteers do and how they make a difference to children and young people. We’d also got to hear how you make a difference as a volunteer.

Where to find us

The DECD gallery is on the ground floor of the Education building at 31 Flinders Street, Adelaide.

About our volunteers

The department has more than 25,000 volunteers who give their time and talents to help children and young people learn and grow.

Our volunteers are parents, family, caregivers and people from the community. They bring their life skills, expertise, knowledge and diversity to our schools, preschools and early childhood settings.

Our volunteers help in so many ways. It’s good to volunteer with us – maybe you could help too. To apply you need to contact the site you want to help.
