Child protection curriculum training

All staff who deliver the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum (KS:CPC) must complete a full day face-to-face training session through SHine SA.

Department staff

Department of Education and Child Development (DECD) site leaders can access staff training data on HR management information system (staff login required).

The KS:CPC training data and HRS help sheet (staff login required) has more instructions. Staff can check their training status on the employee information kiosk (EIK) (staff login required) or by contacting DECD.CPC [at] sa.gov.au.

Full day training

SHine SA offer full day training sessions at the Education Development Centre in Hindmarsh and at other locations.

Training information, costs and dates can be found at SHine SA or by calling 8300 5342.

Update training

Online update training

Staff who have completed the full day face-to-face training prior to 2013 must undertake the online update course (staff login required).

The update training will take around 90 minutes to complete. A certificate can be printed once the course is completed. Departmental staff completion will be recorded on the Valeo system centrally.

Site-based update training

Sites can arrange face-to-face update training, at a negotiated time and cost, by contacting the SHine SA.

Responding to abuse and neglect training

All DECD, independent and Catholic school staff must undertake RAN-EC training before starting their employment to develop the skills to recognise and report suspected child abuse.

This training is different to the KS:CPC training. RAN is about staff recognising and reporting child abuse, whereas the KS:CPC is a curriculum for teaching children to keep themselves safe.
