As part of the curriculum, South Australian government schools offer a language learning option.
The following languages are offered across South Australian government schools:

- Italian (PDF 97KB)

- Spanish (PDF 100KB)
- Vietnamese (PDF 86KB).
There are also multiple Anangu schools that teach English (PDF 91KB).
Lists of schools offering specific language programs are updated in March, July and November each year.
Adelaide High School is the state's only Special Interest Language School. It enables students to enrol to study 2 of the 7 languages on offer.
Open Access College offers distance education programs for some languages and digital resource development to support languages education.
The School of Languages offers a wide range of language learning options in after-hours classes and can offer specialist support in developing new languages programs and resources.
