Child related employment screening for prospective swimming and aquatics staff

All education department swimming and aquatics employees must have a current child related employment screening (CRES) provided by the DCSI Screening unit.

National police certificates from a SAPOL branch are not acceptable.

Screenings must be updated every 3 years.

Processing can take 12 weeks so it is important to allow enough time before your anticipated employment time or expiry of current CRES.

Prospective assistant instructor CRES application process

To apply for a child related employment screening:

1. Download a child related employment screening application form (PDF 687KB).

2. Select payment option 1, tick ‘prospective employee’.

3. Complete section D with the following information:

D1 – Requesting organisation

DECD Swimming and Aquatics unit

Level 1 East, 31 Flinders Street

Adelaide SA 5000

D2 – Requesting officer/contact person

‘Tick if the requesting officer is the same person as the verifying officer’ (leave blank)

Give a proposed date of employment (DD/MM/YY).

D4 – Sole trader

Mark as ‘not applicable’.

4. Pay the fee and submit the form at a post office.

5. If you are successful in the screening, DCSI will send a letter stating that you have been cleared for child related paid or volunteer work. Keep the original for your records, and send  a copy to the Swimming and Aquatics unit along with your application for employment.

Prospective instructor application process

To apply for a child related employment screening:

  1. Download a child related employment screening application form (PDF 687KB).
  2. Select payment option 2, tick ‘prospective employee’. The department will cover the screening cost.
  3. Leave section D blank.
  4. Attach the completed CRES form to your application for employment.
