Sites and third party provider RAN-EC training responsibilities

All department site leaders must only engage third party providers whose staff have completed the appropriate Responding to Abuse and Neglect – education care (RAN-EC) training

Third party providers have broader responsibilities around staff, volunteers and child safe environments.

See the list of approved training organisations who offer RAN-EC training and the RAN-EC induction session for volunteers.

Different circumstances

Approved third party providers

The RAN-EC training requirements might be different in some special circumstances for approved third party providers when providers are:

  • on one of the approved panel of providers; and
  • have staff who have completed a full day child safe environment training in the past three years.

You will need to DECD.CSW [at] sa.gov.au (contact us) to find out if this applies to you.

Agency agreements and deeds

Some people who work or volunteer with the department do so under an agency agreement or a deed with the minister. For example, if you are on one of the approved panel of providers.

The requirements for RAN-EC training are as stated in your specific agreement, deed, or policy.

If you aren’t sure what training you have to do, you need to DECD.CSW [at] sa.gov.au (contact us).
